Education & Training

A commitment to providing Educational Opportunities

BNC has a strong commitment to supporting educative programs that provide opportunity to our community members at any age.

From homework clubs to Broadband for Seniors; From TAFE to our own IGNITE - School to work program BNC believes in encouraging people, young people and children to embrace learning opportunities - enriching their knowledge and creating choice for the future.

IGNITE - School to Work

In 2017 BNC is trialling our IGNITE - school to work program. This two semester program aims to inspire young people and ignite their passion for learning whilst providing clear pathways to future work or study options.

Lessons and Lunch - TAFE comes to Bellambi

We are currently running our second program in partnership with TAFE Illawarra. "Lessons and Lunch" is a 15 week Certificate II in Skills for Work and Training, focusing on work readiness and developing skills for further study. TAFE comes to BNC every Tuesday, with students working in a small class environment supported by TAFE staff. Accompanying this course is a free nutritious lunch served each week by our fabulous volunteer cooks.

If you are interested in studying a TAFE course at BNC please give us a call and chat to the manager. We welcome any suggestions for further courses.

The Homework clubs

Our primary school and high school homework clubs aim to support children and young people in their learning. With low teacher to student ratios it's like having your own private tutor!

Our partners 'The Smith Family' run the primary school homework club every Wednesday afternoon during the school terms from 3.15 to 4.15 with the aid of a group of passionate volunteers.

And on Thursday afternoons from 3.15 to 4.15 we have a team of extraordinary volunteer ex teachers who can support high school students with any subject they need help with.
